(AIM:OPTI ) has launched meal replacement shakes and bars containing its OptiBiome® proprietary weight management technology across Australia and New Zealand.
The life sciences firm told investors that it has launched the weight management products under the group’s Optislim® brand alongside Woolworths and ChemistWarehouse, as well as OptiPharm Pty Ltd’s (“OptiPharm”) online store in both Australia and New Zealand.
OptiPharm is a privately-owned Australian company which has been operating for 24 years. Its flagship brand, Optislim®, is the leading Australian weight management brand which markets shakes, soups and bars available as total or partial low diet meal replacements.
These launches build on a licence agreement entered into in March 2020 which granted OptiPharm exclusive use of OptiBiome® in Australia, parts of Asia, New Zealand, Middle East, the Gulf States and North America, and one in August 2020 granting use in Europe.
Optibiotix will now be able to access a wide base of customers and provide them with “a scientifically proven and award-winning ingredient to help them achieve their weight loss.”
Shares in Optibiotix Health have seen a 20% increase in the past month and opened this morning 3.36% higher at 61.5p following the announcement.
Garry McDonald, Managing Director of OptiPharm said the Optislim® – Optibiome® range of meal replacement shakes & snack bars will be available to Australian consumers from 12 October 2020 “via the Chemist Warehouse group and the Woolworths supermarket chain.”
He added that further product release will follow shortly throughout New Zealand and that additional contracts are currently being finalised for a number of regions throughout Asia.
“Essentially, we are revolutionising meal replacements utilising OptiBiome®, the award winning, patented ingredient from OptiBiotix. We look forward to a long and successful association with the OptiBiotix team,” he commented.
“This first commercial step with OptiPharm highlights the strength of the relationship between the two companies and we look forward to future commercial launches beyond Australia and New Zealand,” said Dr. Fred Narbel, Managing Director of OptiBiotix’s prebiotics division.
