■ Try to exercise in natural light. It “realigns” your circadian rhythms — in other words, you sleep better. Between early November and late February the sun won’t come up before 7am, so move your workout to your lunch break if possible.
■ Don’t force yourself to exercise, says the personal trainer and influencer Alice Liveing. It’s OK to have times when you’re not as motivated to train. It will come back.
■ Shift motivation away from weight loss. So much of our lives is restricted at the moment, there is no use in piling on even more pressure. See exercise as a part of your day to enjoy, even if it is just going for a walk.
