Online workshop explains how to lose the ‘Quarantine 15’ | Lifestyles

Between the holidays and the pandemic, people may have packed on a few extra pounds. Looking for a solution? Cornell Cooperative Extension of Steuben County is resuming its Speaker Series in the new year.

The first presentation will feature Julie Walenta, a registered dietitian nutritionist and regional environmental nutritionist for CCE-Steuben, providing strategies on how to tackle your quarantine weight gain. The free workshop, “How To Lose the Quarantine 15,” is scheduled from 6 to 730 p.m. Jan. 14 via the Zoom video conferencing platform.

n The underlying causes for weight gain and what to do about them.

Walenta, a Bath resident, came to CCE-Steuben from Guthrie Health Works Wellness & Fitness Center where she was a clinical dietitian. She has a bachelor of science degree in dietetics from the University of Delaware and a master’s degree in public health nutrition from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.

“I’m creative and like to ‘think outside the box’ which may help with program delivery as we all learn to navigate the ‘new norm’ during the pandemic,” Walenta said in a news release.
